I used the natural break map as my classification of choice. The divisions started at smaller numbers and this allows the data to show differences in a wider range on the map.

I hope this is big enough to read the class breaks. Please let me know if it isn't and i'll post those as well. After all the reading i was dreading this assignment but I had no problems with it.

Bad Map

OK so not only does this make the U.S. look like it has a mad case of razor burn it also makes it impossible to draw any useful numbers from the presented data. The graphic gets in the way of the data and could be done much better.

Good Map

I first saw this map in the recent September issue of National Geographic. I really liked it then and so I went back to the issue for this assignment. This map is good because it gets the idea of the article across quite well with out overwhelming the viewer with information.

Small Steps

Trying this all out for the first time. Here's to hoping it works!
